OCAD UNIVERSITY

Located in the heart of Toronto, Ontario OCAD University is second to none in art and design education, harnessing, and research [1]. Having only one main campus, 21 programs offered, and 4500 students, it’s a small school; though a great example of “quality over quantity” [1]. A very prestigious school, founded in 1876, their main offers are in the arts, design, liberal arts & sciences, as well as their  “School of Interdisciplinary Studies” [2]. A symbol of their futuristic ideals, love of felines, infatuation with sci-fi, and transformative opportunities, “Space Cat” is a hallmark of OCAD culture [3]. OCAD provides a limited selection of clubs, relative to other universities in the province (due in part to their small size, and limited programs). Mainly, they offer clubs relating to faith, arts & crafts, sexuality, and games [4]. Originally, the school was founded independently back in 1876, and was only granted university status in 2002 [5]. Project 31 -one of OCAD’s most prestigious art showcases- can see over 40,000 guests come to view over 900 grad students’ art work on average [5]. OCAD has affiliations with AICAD, UnivCan, CBIE, COU, and IAU [6].
