SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
McMaster University is located in Hamilton, and comprises 57 buildings, 122 programs, and over 21 500 students [1]. It was first established in the year 1887 and is split into six different academic facilities: Degroote School of Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science [2] . They’re known as the McMaster Marauders with their mascot named “Mac the Marauder.” The institution is home to over 300 student organizations and clubs, however, they do not recognize any fraternities or sororities [2]. Their main academic policy is known as the “McMaster Model,” which focuses on a student-centred, problem-based, interdisciplinary approach to learning which has been used since the 1960s [2]. Only 3700 students live in twelve on-campus residences with a range of building sizes and dormitory styles [1]. Finally, McMaster University is a member of a group of research intensive Canadian universities known as the U15 [2].

How-to: apply to uni/college in Ontario
OUAC
(Ontario University Application Centre)
Application:

Current high school students apply using the 101 application NOT the 105.
-
You can begin applying once you have received your university PIN number sent via mail this year (check with your guidance counsellor to see if your school is doing it differently)

Follow the instructions on the OUAC website & see tutorials below

Apply using the program code which can be found on OUAC. You can only apply for a MAXIMUM of 3 programs per university
-
You will also need to rank your programs in order of preference. Note that universities will be able to see your ranking, however it will not affect your chance of acceptance, unless the university specifically says so.

Make sure to check your junk box in case supplementary applications were sent there.

"What marks are used for my application?"

Top 6 grade 12 U / M marks including prerequisite(s)

Universities do not use any other mark in calculation of your average (unless specified)

however, all grade 12 and grade 11 grades are uploaded to the OUAC. Some programs offer early admission & will use your grade 11 marks.

Universities will always use the highest mark to calculate your average –usually including prerequisite(s)

Universities will not use Open or College Type Credits

Accepting an offer from one university WILL NOT cancel applications to other universities

Only permitted to have one acceptance from one Ontario University at a time

May choose to accept an offer after you have already accepted an offer from another university

Cancel the first offer and accept the new offer – OUAC will notify the institutions of the change

If you have cancelled an offer or missed the deadline but wish to accept this offer – must contact the university / college

May request admission consideration to another program (alternative offer)

APPLYING OUTSIDE OF ONTARIO
As an Ontario student, applying to any school outside of Ontario means that each student is responsible for sending in his/her transcript, following all the necessary dates and deadlines, submitting all fees directly to each school.
However, OUAC does assist the following out-of province institutions in collecting academic data from Ontario high school students:
