Thompson Rivers University

Located in the western province of British Columbia, Thompson Rivers University is a true mosaic of unique student culture [1]. TRU is a truly all-encompassing school, with an astounding 141 programs offered over 10 faculties, two campuses (Kamloops (main), Williams Lake), and 24,125+ students [1]. Speaking of faculties, the school (est. 1970) has faculties of: adventure/culinary arts/tourism, arts, business and economics, education and social work, law, nursing, student development, science, and trades and technology [2]. The Thompson Rivers WolfPack are part of the Canada West conference, their colours (and the school’s) are black/orange, and their mascot is “Wolfie, the wolf” [3]. Thompson Rivers boasts a large conglomeration of clubs, ranging from academics, to athletics, to religion, to politics, to ethnic, to common interests, and many more niches [4]. The TRUSU (Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union) has a large centre for navigating information about clubs at TRU which you can see here [5]. TRU is a very online friendly school, and has 11,794~ online students, and 60 online programs [1, 6]. It’s also important to note the average class size (for academic courses); a small 31 students, making for tighter knit groups [6]. TRU is affiliated with the following organisations: AUCC, IAU, CVU, CBIE, RUCBC, etc. [7].
